RELEASE INFO

“Bloodstone” begins life as a disturbing waltz, before the dirtiest, most foul-smelling and obnoxious vortex of a beat stomps all over that and the whole builds to a constantly deferred orchestral finale apparently built from tune ups. The strings in this piece are provided by the world famous Kronos Quartet, recorded in San Francisco with Amon.

“Esthers” plays games with the surf music tradition of including motorbike noises as surrogate basslines, though in Amon’s case the surf guitar sound is filled out with an extra layer of wasps, whereas the motorbike is given the kind of sub-frequencies that make it sound like Satan’s idea of a good ride.

“Here Comes The Moon Man” (not included on the album), is in some ways the most relaxed of the three – devotional spiritual music built from industrial remains and scrap metal. It is adapted from part of the score to “Taxedermia,” an avant garde Hungarian film that Tobin soundtracked whilst also working on “Foley Room”.
